So Many New Babies, So Little Time!

Is anyone else experiencing a baby boom? Perhaps its my age group. I tend to do things a bit ahead of schedule. Anywho, the joy of so many babies is the opportunity for so much creativity. I made this onesie dress for a baby girl soon to arrive. She also received a trio of burpies and a Tiramisu Baby Blanket. I just loved the Tiramisu pattern. So simple yet so sophisticated looking. The mama of this baby girl loved it too. That is a pattern I will use again for sure!

The flower was made using this great tutorial. It was much easier than some of the fabric flowers I have attempted...and failed at. This went swimmingly the first try. Score!

Here is a photo of the whole gift. The mama-to-be sent this photo to me in her thank you card. I was completely touched that she incorporated my gifts into her sweet princess' room and sent me a photo to see. So thoughtful. Not often that the thank you includes such a nice gift!

Recycled Recycle T-Shirt

Now if that isn't eco-friendly, I don't know what is.

I had this t-shirt in the Goodwill pile for a while. This morning I stumbled upon this post which inspired me to make use of it.

It's cute, it's comfy and it's even twirl-able. Oh, and it didn't cost a thing...except about 20 minutes of time. Gotta love that!

Spring Fever

This post inspired me to give the rose clip tutorial a try. I was so happy with my little rose that I went on to make a few more spring inspired hair clips.

Aside from a knitting project that I will share soon, creativity has been at a minimum lately. I am finding myself stir crazy far too often. Cleaning house just isn't a satisfying outlet. This quick yet colorful project was just what the doctor ordered.

And my girlies were happy too.

One of Life's Most Valuable Lessons...

When life gives you lemons, make lemonade. Or in Posy's case, when the groomer shaves you bald, wear cashmere!

This was a cashmere J.Crew sweater in it's last life. I took it apart a long time ago with hopes of reusing the yarn. The yarn is way to fine so I gave up and stuck it in a basket in the nook. Poor Posy girl has been shivering since she lost her hair. Upon doing some research I stumbled upon this FAB tutorial. I have already told you how very much I love tutorials and the people who create them.

Anywho, 30+ minutes in the nook and, voila, warm, cozy and very chic little naked pup. Note the little lace ruffle at the bottom. I think she will feel a bit better now that her bits and pieces are covered. No self-respecting woman should be forced show off her goods.

New Pillows and Day 7 of Giving

I have been wanting new throw pillows for my family room for a while. I finally got around to making them. These were super quick and easy. They have an envelope back so I can easily take the covers off to wash. Very important with 4 kids and 2 dogs!

The inspiration for this whole project and especially the tree came from a Sew Mama Sew post.

Day 7

Last week I picked up 3 $10 Jewel gift cards for the days that we don't have anything planned. Sammy and I dropped the girls off at school and headed to the grocery store for something for dinner. While we shopped, we looked for someone to share a gift card with. Mission accomplished!

Lovely Flower Tutorial

I just adore tutorials. I have learned most of what know in the craft department from online tutorials. When I stumble upon a great one, I must pass it along. This one is great!

This flower was so quick and easy to make. Most of what I do the first time is less than perfect but this tutorial was pretty fool proof.

I used felt for this first go round but I can't wait to try fabric. The center is a pearl seed button.

I attached the rosette to a trusty bend and snap barrette. You know I love those because I can put it in their hair, on a crochet hat, on a head band....even on a scarf or bag.

The answer is yes, I have tortured my poor baby girls (ok not so much babies anymore but forever babies to me) by making them try this on in every possible way. You can see that Gracie is ecstatic about it.

A Birthday Outfit

This Sunday we are celebrating Sam's 5th birthday and my niece, Vaughan's 1st birthday. I decided to make my sweet niece a spring outfit for her birthday.

I found this tutorial while surfing and I knew that I had to make one right away. Grace and Ella will have at least one a piece but I decided to make Vaughanie-girl's first...since its her birthday and all.

Since Vaughan is still in diapers, I had to make some kind of bottom. I was going to make a bloomer but then I changed my mind and went with a little pantaloon. I love how a bit of the blue butterfly pokes out from underneath. This outfit was constructed using all stash fabric, hooray! The butterflies were a score at the local Goodwill. I have at least 3 yards of it. I am sure you will see it again.

A Burpie Baby Gift

Sorry, the light in the Nook is not very good. I wanted to share the little trio of burpies that I made for a friends new princess on the way. This is a quick and easy project and it results in a very unique and lovely baby gift.

Do you ever have this problem?

Those great hooded towels that you get for your baby shower just get too small. When taking 3 kids out of the bath, the hood is really handy for keeping them warm as they wait patiently for their turn to get dressed but the towel hardly gets the drying job done.

Problem solved. A full sized, warm and cuddly towel with a hood. (The girls are sleeping so Sammy agreed to model the pink towel.)

I owe it all to Skip to My Lou's fantastic tutorial. I am telling you, I have basically learned to sew using tutorials. What did we do before the internet?

So here's a very grateful shout out to all you generous people out there who take the time to show us how to do stuff. Hopefully someday I will come up with something worthy of a tutorial so I can give back for all I have gained.

A New Top for Gracie

When my mom was here for vacation, we wandered into a shop and saw the most adorable outfit. It had a criss-cross apron top and a matching bloomer. I thought I had seen a pattern for the top somewhere in the blogosphere and I already had a bloomer pattern. Yesterday I went about looking for the pattern and I found it. My first guess was Katie from Philigry since she makes the most adorable little girl clothes. I was right! Here is the pattern. And here is Gracie wearing her new top. Love it!

I used a white thrifted sheet and added a little flower applique. I attempted to satin stitch around the applique and it turned out OK...from a distance. I am not discouraged though. I am going to master the applique one of these days.

I made the bloomer a while back. It was coincidental that the colors worked so well. I guess I like what I like:)

More Pants for Sammy

I just love the patchwork pants that I made for Sam a while back. They were so quick and easy and he looks great in them. He is a bit different so a handmade pair of pants seems to suit him. I made these yesterday during naptime. If you haven't tried this little pants tutorial yet, you really should! Sam will be getting another pair and I am working on some crop pants for the girlies.

I think he likes them.

Tutu Time

The tutus were a big hit with the girlies. They danced and twirled in them and had a ball. I think all little girls should have a tutu and be a ballerina every once in a while!
