Would You Like a Tutu or Two?

I have had a few inquiries regarding purchasing my tutus. I don't have any in stock currently but I would be more than happy to take custom orders. You can choose one of the styles I have already made or you can "create your own". I will need to know the color/s, embellishement choice and preference of length (mid-thigh "shortie" or mid-calf "longie"), as well as the age of the little princess who will wear it. Sizes range from newborn to adult and every girl in between. These tutus make a fantastic gift whether its for a birthday, Christmas, baby shower or just for fun.

The price per tutu is $30. Shipping will be additional. Please allow 2 weeks of production time as I need to custom order the tulle. You may place your order by emailing me. Please feel free to ask any questions as well. I will invoice you via paypal which allows for credit card payments.

Thank you to all who have given me such a warm, fuzzy feeling by loving my tutus. I hope to make many, many more!

Update

I took the hats and tutus to She Boutique in Highland Park yesterday. It is sidewalk sales this weekend so we decided to hang them all around the door. Sorry the photo is washed out. Lighting wasn't great, too much sun...if that is possible:)
I hung around for a while and did a little shopping myself. Nothing of mine was bought while I was there but there was a lot of interest. A couple of hours after I got home, my sis called me to tell me that the purple tutu had been sold.
All I had hoped was that one item would sell the first day so mission accomplished. We'll see how long it takes to sell the rest.

Proud Tutu Mama

The time has come to part with my tutu-babies. They have been hanging in my dining room and while I know that most dining rooms aren't filled with poofy tutus, I really love seeing them. My heart has gone into each and every one and I have to admit that it is bitter sweet to see them go. I hope they bring lots of joy and hours of twirling to some special little girls.

I have been ever so blessed to have the help of my mom and my sister-in-law to complete this shipment. They were fantastic helpers and I wish they could work with me all the time. Sadly, they live half the country away.
Not sure if you can see, but the tutus have my tag sewn in. That was a big moment, to see my name on something that will be sold in a great boutique.

Each tutu is unique and I hope to continue to be able to make one of a kind designs.

I have loved this project and I will certainly keep you posted on how it goes in the shop. I have butterflies just thinking about it! It is amazing how personal it feels to sell something I have made with my own two hands. I just hope other people like them as much as I do.

Really Missing the Nook

I am embarrassed to reveal that the Crafty Nook looks like this, though I find it strangely liberating exposing my mess. Obviously there is not a whole lot of creating going on in this disaster.

No fabric cutting has happened on this table is quite a while. I am in sewing withdrawal. I am dieing to get the second bloomer/tank set done but there is just no time lately.

I am making some progress on the baby blanket. I would like to have it done by early next week. Not likely since my hubby just informed me that he is working Saturday and we are going to visit his dad for father's day on Sunday.

But here is what I have been up to. Princess Vaughan has begun her two day a week outing to Aunt Shanny's. I have 5 kids at home with 4 under 5 years old now. Its a lot of work but totally worth it! I am just going to have to learn to stay up later if I want to get back into the Nook. I can do it!

Yeah, totally worth it.

When It Rains...

It seems to pour. Do you find that to be true? I had all of this forward momentum going with the shipment for the store and here is all I have been able to produce in the last week.

Don't get me wrong, it is a beauty of a tutu, but one?? Let me share with you the box of what still needs to be finished.

We had a little family crisis last week which took up a good portion of my time and I was commissioned to do a baby blanket as well. I feel like that project takes priority since the baby is due in 2 weeks. Yes, that's right, 2 weeks. I did steal away with my little sis and get some pretty serious thrifting done this weekend though. I will show and tell as soon as things slow down a bit.

I just wanted to share the chaos and hope for a little friendly crafter support. Now I am off to GET SOMETHING DONE...hopefully!

I'm Gonna Do It!

My sister is the buyer for a high fashion boutique in Chicago. I have talked with her and the owner about selling my adult hats but I have not pulled the trigger. I don't know why except that I don't like to mass produce and I have always been a bit insecure about my creations. I worry that people won't like them or that they will fall apart... not that that has ever happened. I much prefer giving my handmade items over selling them.

Last week they were perusing my blog and decided that their store needs a little girl corner that will consist of some of the things I make. I have decided to bite the bullet and hope for the best. I am going to start with a line of sun hats and tutus. I must admit that I am really excited to get this first shipment out and see where it goes.

I have been working away and Ella (watermelon) and Grace (lemon) reluctantly agreed to model the 2 new sun hats in my fruit collection. The strawberry can be seen modeled here. The fruits are barrettes and are removable. I am going to make a couple more hats with different color trim and a bunch of different Bellis to mix and match.

I have ordered TONS of tulle in every color so next week will consist of tutu making. I have a few ideas up my sleeve to make them special. I hope it all works out. I'll keep you posted!
