Would You Like a Tutu or Two?

I have had a few inquiries regarding purchasing my tutus. I don't have any in stock currently but I would be more than happy to take custom orders. You can choose one of the styles I have already made or you can "create your own". I will need to know the color/s, embellishement choice and preference of length (mid-thigh "shortie" or mid-calf "longie"), as well as the age of the little princess who will wear it. Sizes range from newborn to adult and every girl in between. These tutus make a fantastic gift whether its for a birthday, Christmas, baby shower or just for fun.

The price per tutu is $30. Shipping will be additional. Please allow 2 weeks of production time as I need to custom order the tulle. You may place your order by emailing me. Please feel free to ask any questions as well. I will invoice you via paypal which allows for credit card payments.

Thank you to all who have given me such a warm, fuzzy feeling by loving my tutus. I hope to make many, many more!

A New Top for Gracie

When my mom was here for vacation, we wandered into a shop and saw the most adorable outfit. It had a criss-cross apron top and a matching bloomer. I thought I had seen a pattern for the top somewhere in the blogosphere and I already had a bloomer pattern. Yesterday I went about looking for the pattern and I found it. My first guess was Katie from Philigry since she makes the most adorable little girl clothes. I was right! Here is the pattern. And here is Gracie wearing her new top. Love it!

I used a white thrifted sheet and added a little flower applique. I attempted to satin stitch around the applique and it turned out OK...from a distance. I am not discouraged though. I am going to master the applique one of these days.

I made the bloomer a while back. It was coincidental that the colors worked so well. I guess I like what I like:)

Update

I took the hats and tutus to She Boutique in Highland Park yesterday. It is sidewalk sales this weekend so we decided to hang them all around the door. Sorry the photo is washed out. Lighting wasn't great, too much sun...if that is possible:)
I hung around for a while and did a little shopping myself. Nothing of mine was bought while I was there but there was a lot of interest. A couple of hours after I got home, my sis called me to tell me that the purple tutu had been sold.
All I had hoped was that one item would sell the first day so mission accomplished. We'll see how long it takes to sell the rest.

Proud Tutu Mama

The time has come to part with my tutu-babies. They have been hanging in my dining room and while I know that most dining rooms aren't filled with poofy tutus, I really love seeing them. My heart has gone into each and every one and I have to admit that it is bitter sweet to see them go. I hope they bring lots of joy and hours of twirling to some special little girls.

I have been ever so blessed to have the help of my mom and my sister-in-law to complete this shipment. They were fantastic helpers and I wish they could work with me all the time. Sadly, they live half the country away.
Not sure if you can see, but the tutus have my tag sewn in. That was a big moment, to see my name on something that will be sold in a great boutique.

Each tutu is unique and I hope to continue to be able to make one of a kind designs.

I have loved this project and I will certainly keep you posted on how it goes in the shop. I have butterflies just thinking about it! It is amazing how personal it feels to sell something I have made with my own two hands. I just hope other people like them as much as I do.

Apron: Round 2

My mom has always had a dish towel draped over her shoulder. I see why she does it but I just can't get in the hang of it. As a mom, I probably need a towel every, oh... 2 minutes but it never seems to stay put where I can find it. I decided to make an apron that would kill 2 birds with one stone. It will keep my clothes clean when cooking and it doubles as that ever-disappearing dish towel. Oh and its kind of cute and fun looking too.

One side is terry cloth. Super absorbant for spills and hand drying.
Peek-a-boo!

The other side is fun and sassy with a little pocket. So cook away and make a mess and when the guests arrive, flip it around and voila, you are super cute and ready to party.

My Very First...

Apron! I went to the flea market and bought a couple of aprons on Sunday. I couldn't find any full aprons that I liked so I decided to make my own. I did use a pattern but I don't have it handy. If anyone wants to know what I used, just ask.

I used a thrifted sheet that I bought at the Goodwill last week. I didn't love it when I bought it but, boy, do I love it now! I want to use it to make all kinds of things. Too bad it was only a twin.

My biggest concern was the ruffle but it turned out OK. I am happy to have a little experience in the ruffle department because, goodness knows, the girlies could use some serious ruffles.

I have an idea up my sleeve for a handy waist arpon. On to the next project.

Look at Me...I'm Sewing!

Wasn't sure I was ever going to get back to it, but I decided that today was the day. Baby Vaughan has been a bit fussy the last couple of times she has been here. She doesn't take a binky or suck her thumb. She just wants her mama's boob. Since mama's boob isn't always readily available, I decided to try and provide her with something that may offer a bit of comfort. It's no boob but maybe it will help. Finny really liked his Aunt Shanny blankie, so here you go Vaughan. Its patchwork on one side and soft minky on the other. This was a good quick project to get the old machine hummin' again. Not perfect by any means but I didn't think perfection was necessary here. Just a whole lot of love, a little bit of cuddley and some good calming energy.

Sorry, I didn't bother to re-iron it after I washed it.
That's because it was needed right away.
I think she likes it.
